Forget houses and property for just a moment if you will and imagine you own a classic Aston Martin that you have cherished over the years but the time has come for it to go.  You know the car inside out, you’ve got a pretty good idea what it’s worth and you’d feel entirely comfortable negotiating a sale with those like-minded enthusiasts who will be responding to your online advert.  You’ll know where to advertise.  They’ll know where to look.  Simple enough one would think and hard to imagine therefore that you would even consider paying very much, if indeed anything at all, to some random third party who has never driven a mile in it and may or may not be familiar with the marque to do the job for you.

Take it from me that exactly the same principle would apply if you were looking to sell your Ealing semi and so to my mind at least that begs the question why we still need all that estate agency plate glass taking up space in our high streets as though we were still in the nineties.  They’re all online agents now anyway so don’t be fooled by that old chestnut.  The only shop window that matters today can be just as effective under your control as theirs.

If you agree with me that this is at least a valid question to be asking in the 2020s may I suggest that you have a read of my post NAPOLEON WAS RIGHT  If not then maybe try YOU WOKE instead and hopefully we can agree on something at least.
